Summary I found the Rat Terrier can be a great dog for everyone. I have really come to appreciate this breed ever since I got two of my own.Don't get me wrong I love all dogs, but this dog was a breed I was unfamiliar with and now I can't say enough about what a loving companion it can be. Because of my appreciation and love for the Rat Terrier I've decided to dedicate this website to them to help spread the word and give everyone out there more knowledge about this breed that's finally making a come back. I don't claim to be an expert. But with the knowledge I have personally gained, along with my opinions from owning the two I have, my aim for this site is to give you insight about their background and answer or clear up questions or misconceptions you might have such as how are they with kids and family, are they predisposed to health problems and what is it that makes them such a loving and ideal companion.In case you are wondering how I ended up with this breed I'd have to say it was a fluke! These guys ended up being my ideal dogs. I had no clue about them, didnt even know they were a breed. They're not exactly the kind of dogs people talk about.

Details Anyway, before getting my Ratter's I had just lost a 10lb Yorkie named Theodore who was only 81/2 years old and I was devastated. A dog lover like I am, I missed having a canine companion. Eight months later when it was time for another dog it was hard trying to figure out what breed I should get. All I knew was I didn't want another dog that was going to die on me at such an early age and I also knew that I wanted one that was low maintenance.

Notes My preference are small (miniature size) dogs. They are easier to maneuver since I like taking them out a lot and their more affordable when it comes to food.So as I was searching for my new canine friend I accidentally came across some Rat Terriers for sale in my local newspaper. As I was talking to the breeder and they were answering all my questions I decided that this could possibly be the breed for me.So I went ahead and decided to take the plunge and got two. I haven't regretted it since.So that was the beginning of how I met and found out what a wonderful companion this breed can truly make.
