Summary
A giant dog breed is any of many dog breeds whose height and weight put them at the largest end of all dog breeds. There is no universal height or weight at which a breed is classified as a giant breed; any very large dogs fall into this category, although some groups "giant breed" based on a certain height or weight, such as 100 pounds.[1] Giant breeds grow rapidly, but take longer to mature into their full adult sizes than smaller dogs. "This crate is not for dogs who are aren't used to being crated. I'm fostering a pit-bull mix until a permanent home can be found (she was hit by a car on Sunday, 10/07, taken to a shelter, and was going to be euthanized because of her breed).
Details
Cage set up was very easy. Unfortunately, so is take-down, for this dog. The first indication of a problem came in the first few minutes: in less than five minutes, she managed to get the plastic tray completely out from under the cage. Putting heavy things in the way to keep the tray in place didn't work. So forget having her droppings be caught in the tray, rather than on the floor. The first night, she was able to literally move the cage around on the floor by repeatedly banging against the door and walls of the crate. The second night, in about 35 minutes, she managed to bend the crate by the door just enough to force herself through. Keep in mind that this is a medium sized dog, about 30 pounds, who had been run over by a car earlier in the same week. In the process of tearing through the cage, she reopened several of her lacerations and tore more skin and fur off herself, before climbing up two flights of stairs and appearing in my bedroom in the middle of the night, terrifying my 8-pound cat. I put her back in the cage, resecured the pins, and about 15 minutes later, she was back in my room.
